Oversampling

Increase in accuracy

In the case of very noisy signals or a required high level of accuracy, standard deviations of the measured value acquisition can be almost eliminated by multiple sampling of the same signal with subsequent mathematical averaging. The so-called bit noise of the converter (change of the LSB of the AD converter) is also minimized by this method. This process is called oversampling. The real resolution of a 16-bit AD converter of 13.5 bits can be increased to 15.5 bits by 16x oversampling.

Transparentes Oversampling

The HS versions of the Multichoice PCI series and the Quattro series offer the option of oversampling directly on the measurement cards. Instead of a simple acquisition, the channel is scanned several times in succession according to the settings and then averaged. Only the averaged value is transferred to the measuring program so that the oversampling process for the measuring program is absolutely transparent. Any familiar function in the measuring program that accesses the measured values can still be used.

No additional costs

The oversampling is available on all measuring cards of the HS series as well as on all Quattro cards at no extra cost.
